Jan 17th 2015 exhibition opened

Garden and Other Landscapes, my latest show, opened at A + E Gallery in Napier, New Zealand on January 17th. In early 2014 I spent seven weeks in France, Sweden and Scotland, painting gardens and forests and doing research for the PhD I am currently engaged in at Australian National University School of Art in Canberra. The trip included a five day painting residency in Monet's Garden. My research stems from many years of living in New Zealand, exploring the South Island forests and painting in response to them.  The works in this exhibition were made both during and after the trip. Kept small for portability, the paintings in watercolour, acrylic and oil explore the physical relationship between painting and walking in nature.
